Hi Everyone - I have some sobering news to share about one of my best friends, an incredible human being who needs our help.

My friend Kyle was recently diagnosed with a life-threatening condition for which he needs urgent treatment.

Unfortunately, he is not able to pay for the medical treatment he needs, and due to some ludicrous loopholes, his treatment is not covered by insurance. He may die if he is not able to receive this life-saving treatment quickly. I greatly appreciate any financial support you may be able to provide towards his medical bills.

Unfortunately, to respect his wishes, I can't share too much more, but I can share a story that highlights the kind of person he is.

We first met during the evacuation of Afghanistan, where vulnerable and patriotic Afghanis alike were seeking to flee the country by any means necessary to avoid the tyranny of the Taliban, who would (and has done) terrible things to them.

During that time, he and I volunteered in a digital community where we served as an information-sharing node between individuals on the ground in the country and other individuals who had knowledge of available seats on planes flying there.

That episode, while it had its tragic elements, also highlighted the spirit of humanity at its best: volunteers like my friend Kyle, using sheer force of will, huge hearts, and the digital equivalent of duct tape and bubble gum to save the lives of deserving and innocent men, women, and children.

I can tell you we confirmed 320 lives saved as a result of this specific community - we kept track. Kyle was a huge part of this operation.

I almost never ask for anything - but Kyle has experienced rapid progression of this condition and is in a desperate situation. The good news is, surgery (as well as a prescription) is likely to save his life.
