Hello friends. If you didn't know, Kyle has been going through some major health issues. He hasn't been able to work since May, and things are getting tough financially. It all started in late April when Kyle was taken to the emergency room for throwing up blood. After an endoscope to find the issue, he was informed he has esophageal cancer. In mid-May, he had a CT scan which showed the size, location, and that the tumor had broken through his esophagus wall.
May 17 was Kyle's last day of work. At the end of May, he had surgery to place a port and feeding tube in.
June 3rd was the beginning of his 6 weeks of radiation treatment for 5 days a week.
Things took a turn for the worse on June 5th. During a blood transfusion, Kyle was admitted to Novant for an esophageal bleed. He was in the ICU from the 6th through the 9th before being moved to his regular room until his discharge on the 14th.
On June 18th, while at a chemo appointment, Kyle had an allergic reaction to the chemo drug which resulted in anaphylactic shock.
On July 13th, Kyle had another life-threatening esophageal bleed; this time, he was flown to Chapel Hill. This trip ended all radiation and chemo treatment. He was in Chapel Hill from July 14th till the 19th.
After a few days' rest, another esophagus bleed erupted, sending Kyle back to Chapel Hill. He was discharged on the 25th just to turn around and return to Chapel Hill on the 27th to schedule surgery to remove his diseased esophagus and the tumor.
Kyle has a wonderful family unit in his corner: his mother Deb, his dad Tom, and his beautiful 8-year-old daughter Ophelia. As you can probably imagine, everyone's exhausted. All the doctor's visits and helicopter rides have taken a toll on the family emotionally and financially. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will go towards medical, travel, and living expenses. Thanks so much for helping a great guy and dad in our community.
