Hello everyone! I’m Lauren and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my brother’s girlfriend—our sweet auntie Kyleigh. On Friday, August 1st while she was driving to our parent’s house in Perryville, MO, a car entered her lane and hit her vehicle head on. After she was cut out of the car by first responders and evaluated, she was quickly flown to St. Louis for medical treatment.

Kyleigh was found to have damage to her aorta (the big vessel that comes out of the heart that supplies blood to the whole body) and had to have an emergent procedure to place a stent graft in her aorta (TEVAR) to control bleeding and ensure adequate blood flow to critical parts of the body. The doctors told her that if the damage to her aorta had been any worse, she wouldn’t have made it.

But this was not the end of her surgical journey. The next day they realized that she also had tears in her intestines from the impact of the accident, which required another emergent surgery to repair a part of her small bowel as well as her colon. This also required multiple trips back to the operating room to ensure everything was properly cleaned out.

After these urgent issues were fixed she was able to move on to her orthopedic surgeries which consisted of fixing a multitude of fractures in her left arm, both sides of her pelvis, her foot and hand.

She also had to go back for 3 more procedures for complications related to her aorta repair.

She was intubated in the ICU through most of her first week in the hospital.

As of now, she is finally on the upswing and even got to sit in a chair today—her first time being fully out of bed in almost 3 weeks.

My goal for this is to help our girl out while she is unable to work or go to school. She will have plenty of physical therapy after all this as well. This was such a life altering accident and any contribution big or small means the world! Kyleigh is such a wonderful and generous person and we want to help give back to her. Thank you so much ❤️
