Hello, my name is Kyleigh. I am writing this out of absolute desperation. I am a full-time single mother to three beautiful, innocent babies under the age of 4, my twin boys and my 8-month-old infant. Our lives have been defined by a cycle of severe trauma, and right now, we are trapped. The unthinkable trauma we survived in 2024, my world shattered. The father of my twin boys was arrested for severe child abuse against our own helpless infants. Reeling from that horror, suffering from severe PTSD, and trying to protect my boys, I tried to rebuild. Tragically, I fell into the arms of another abuser. I became pregnant and had my youngest baby just 8 months ago, only for the abuse to start all over again. I am a survivor of domestic violence, but the mental and physical toll is crushing. On top of severe postpartum depression and PTSD, I battle Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS)—a painful, chronic skin condition that makes daily movement agony during flare-ups. Stranded, Isolated, and Out of Options I have been working myself to the bone to figure out how to survive. Because I have three tiny children and no childcare, I was relying entirely on DoorDash to feed my family. But recently, our only vehicle was completely wrecked in a crash. With no car, my only lifeline to income vanished instantly. I cannot work. I cannot get to interviews it daycare appointments. I cannot get my babies to doctors appointments. I have spent weeks calling a mountain of shelters and social service agencies, begging for help. Every single door has been slammed in our faces. The system is entirely full, and we have been left completely on our own. There is nobody who can help.

The Plan: Our Only Shot at Safety

There is a light at the end of this dark tunnel, but I cannot reach it alone. I have secured a housing voucher to move us to Des Moines, where a real support system is waiting to help me raise my children in a safe, peaceful environment. Because of the voucher, I can secure an apartment without a job right now. The finish line is right there—but I am completely broke, stranded, and unable to physically get my children and our belongings across the state.
