Hi everyone! This is Kylee! On 4/25/25 I was admitted to the hospital with severe sepsis due to a severe bone infection (osteomyelitis) in my 5th metatarsal, which spread pretty quickly, creating an abscess inside an open wound that spread thru my whole foot. Ultimately, it resulted in me undergoing surgery on 4/27 to try and remove the infection as best they could. Unfortunately that meant me losing my 5th metatarsal (pinky toe) to try to keep the infection from going any further. They left the wound open to try to drain more infection before closing it, and sent my bone to get cultured and find out what they were working with. On 4/29 they had received the results (bad bad infection I believe it was streptococcus) and they did surgery again to close the right side of my foot where the toe was taken. They had to make a couple incisions on the left side of my foot and under where the infection still needed to be drained more. So after over 60 IV’s with antibiotics and liquids, I was finally released on 4/28. Well, that hospital stay has come to about $38,000, and without insurance we are left to pay it ourselves. I also have follow up appointments every week which are costing me $250 out of pocket. We’re not in a position to pay that but I still am not out of the woods and need to be at these appointments. So I created this to hopefully get as much help as we can! Anything helps! We appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers we’ve gotten. Thank you so much! ❤️
