Support Kylee & RJ’s battle against Neuroblastoma!

My best friend Kylee’s life turned upside down as her 2 month old baby boy was found to have tumors all over his liver and other areas of his small body. After 3 long weeks and a very dangerous biopsy, the tumors were found to be neuroblastoma which is a cancer, we are still awaiting the official prognosis and staging. Because of these tumors, his belly was extremely swollen, making a biopsy very difficult and risky. Doctors had to leave his abdomen open after his biopsy because his abdomen was so swollen due to the size of the tumors. He is currently sedated on a intubated where he will remain until things shrink and blood levels go back to normal and the team

Things are changing for this precious baby every day and there are still so many questions and possibilities, He did start his first round of chemo last week so we are hoping to see some shrinking due to that, but just need time. They have spent most of their in the PICU at Penn state children’s hospital and we know that this is going to be a long journey for both little man and mama. This is where I’m asking for some help ! Kylee has spent every day at the hospital with rj, missing work . She has a very supportive job, but as we know, bills don’t pay themselves: especially being a single mom with 2 other children. We also know that expenses due to a lengthy hospital stay add up fast. If you know kylee personally, you know she has a heart of gold, her kids are her absolute world and she is always there to help people when they are in need and never asks for help. Now it’s time that we help her. I’m asking that we come together to take a little bit of stress off of her shoulders during this difficult time so that she can put all of her energy into being the best advocate and support for rj. Baby RJ has fully recovered from his abdominal surgery. He celebrated his 1st birthday in the hospital and after almost 10 long months he was discharged on Christmas Eve to come home for a few weeks before starting his next round of Chemotherapy. We were all so thrilled to see his happy self thriving at home, playing with all his toys and being loved on by his sisters and mommy. He caught a glimpse of what it felt like to be a baby! This past week Kylee took him for his MIBG scan to see how the tumors were reacting to the Chemotherapy as he was getting ready to start another round. The following day Hershey called and told Kylee that although his original tumors were shrinking, she needed to bring RJ to the hospital immediately as the scan detected spots on his brain. While in the lobby of the hospital awaiting a bed, RJ underwent a seizure, which this has never happened before. Although this was one of the scariest moments of his life, God was watching over RJ. He didn’t let this happen an hour and half away from the hospital at home, he didn’t allow it to happen in the car on the way to the hospital, it happened while in the care of the best doctors and nurses in the country. RJ was rushed to the ER where he was continuously seizing and not responding for what seemed like forever. The doctors were very concerned and were not sure if he was going to come out of this state. They moved him to the PICU and by the grace of God, RJ woke up and was talking to the staff like nothing ever happened. The preformed a CT scan which showed the seizures were caused by the tumors on the brain bleeding. Fast forward to today, January 10, we are awaiting results of an MRI to determine prognosis and where we move forward from here. I ask you to continue to pray for baby RJ, Kylee and her girls. They need all of the comfort and strength right now. Kylee was in hopes to go back to work when RJ came home from the hospital and was with a nurse. These scan results have changed a lot of things and we do not have many answers now. I’m just trying to help my best friend only have to worry about being a mommy to her baby boy who needs her more than ever.
