Hi everyone, this is Kevin Abblitt, reaching out to ask for urgent support for my brother, Kyle Abblitt, who was in a life-threatening skateboarding accident in Oklahoma last weekend. According to the incredible couple who found Kyle, likely saving his life, he was riding his skateboard down a hill in Edmond, OK, when he fell backwards, resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He unfortunately was not wearing a helmet.
Kyle has remained in the Trauma ICU in Oklahoma City since February 15, where doctors have worked tirelessly to treat him for brain bleeding, bruising, swelling and other critical injuries. He will have a long road to recovery, and I’m creating this GoFundMe page to help him and my parents with medical bills and ongoing care as he returns home to San Diego, CA in the coming weeks. My parents both work full-time at Rancho Bernardo High School and White Construction, Inc. and will need continued support for Kyle’s daily care as his brain heals and he begins rehabilitation.
Kyle is a beloved San Diego native, well-known in baseball communities in San Diego and Oklahoma. He played baseball at Westview High School before graduating and playing at San Diego Mesa Community College, continuing to Oklahoma Baptist University. Kyle received his Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma, going on to coach and teach in the Chickasha Public Schools and Ponca City Public Schools. Kyle also coached travel ball for Brewer Baseball in OKC.
Our family cannot thank you enough for your support as my brother begins his long recovery. We would be so grateful for any donations, no matter the size, or if you can simply share this page with your contacts and on social media. Your prayers during this difficult time will also mean the world to Kyle and our family. Thank you.
