My name is Kyla Betts wife, nurse, fur baby mum & athlete. In 02/2022, I was diagnosed with Stage 1a ER+ PR+ HER2+ Breast Cancer. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy, 18 weeks of chemo & 5 weeks of radiation. My immune system has been taxed with multiple co-infections and Hypogammaglobulinemia (low IgG), which I'm still undergoing treatment. Since 2022, I have undergone 2 more preventative surgeries. Breast cancer has affected many women in my world from friends, colleagues, and family including my late mum Julia & late Aunt Sylvia.

While enduring chemo, I visualized completing my deferred running events to give me strength & hope. In 12/23, I ran the CIM marathon & in 04/23 the London Marathon. I've been accepted to run in the NYC marathon 2025!! In order to do so, I must raise $5000 for the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Foundation by mid-October 2025. All raised funds go directly to the organization. I will be paying for my own entry, hotel, flight, and spending money.

Please help me to reach this goal to raise money for breast cancer research. One day this disease will no longer exist. Until then, I keep placing one step in front of the other for my forward progress to fully heal and advocate for others who've been affected by breast cancer. Love Ky ❤️
