Hi! My name is Kyla Hurt and I was recently selected to compete for Team USA on the Women's U20 team at the 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships in Spain.
About me:
When I started playing ultimate frisbee, I never would have believed it if someone told me where I am now. I am 18 years old and a senior from Eugene, Oregon. I started playing in 8th grade, with Emerald Valley Ultimate. I was mainly looking for a way to spend time with my friends, but I found something even better. I fell in love with the sport and the community; ultimate quickly becoming one of the biggest parts of my life. Those who know me might say I am a little obsessed…
Throughout my high school career I have played mainly for South Eugene Gender Diverse and Oregon Downpour. I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to compete for these highly successful programs. Surrounded by skilled, dedicated, and encouraging coaches and teammates, I have grown so much as a person, player, teammate, and captain. In my time on these teams I’ve contributed to two golds and three silvers in five national tournaments.
Coaching middle school frisbee I have become more involved in the community. Helping kids learn the sport and watching them grow is an experience which has brought me so much joy.
I am incredibly honored to represent my community in a sport that has come to mean so much in my life, and to have this opportunity to play at a new level. Getting to play for Team USA is a big accomplishment in my ultimate journey, and I’m excited for the work ahead. It is a dream to be here. My family, teammates, coaches, EVU, and the larger Oregon ultimate community—thank you to everyone who has already helped me so much in getting to this point!
About you:
Ultimate frisbee is a growing sport, and as such, playing for Team USA is a big expense. Much of the cost falls to individual players, and I need your help! The tournament will take place July 11-18 in Logroño, Spain. Donations will go towards covering expenses for travel, housing, meals, coaching, and tournament fees; with an estimated total cost of $6,500.
Anything helps—even if it is just sending this GoFundMe on to the next person. Thank you for your support!
