Meet Kyah — a bright, brave 10-year-old girl living with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy. Despite every effort and treatment tried, Kyah’s seizures remain medication-resistant and have been worsening each day, impacting nearly every aspect of her daily life.
After exhausting other options, Kyah’s medical team has recommended a Corpus Callosotomy, a specialized brain surgery aimed at reducing the intensity and frequency of her seizures. This is a major step, but one filled with hope — hope for a better quality of life for Kyah.
Her surgery is scheduled for late October to early November at Minnesota Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Recovery is expected to take 6–8 weeks, assuming no complications. During this time, her parents, Jessica and Shyia Colburn, will be traveling frequently for follow-up appointments, while also taking time off work to care for Kyah through her surgery and recovery.
We are raising funds to help support Kyah’s family with medical travel, lodging, food, and lost wages during this incredibly challenging time. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly to Jessica and Shyia to help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on what matters most — helping Kyah heal.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
