In Loving Memory of Kwee Ho Tat
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Kwee Ho Tat, who bravely fought Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Despite the courageous battle against this rare and life-threatening disease, Kwee passed away surrounded by loved ones.
HLH is a severe condition where the immune system malfunctions and starts attacking the body's own tissues and organs, leading to dangerous complications such as organ failure. It can be triggered by various factors, including bacterial or viral infections, autoimmune disorders, weakened immunity, cancer, or genetic predispositions. In Kwee’s case, it caused her white blood cells to attack healthy blood cells, putting vital organs such as the spleen, kidneys, and liver at risk.
The intensive treatment Kwee underwent included:
- **Chemotherapy**: To control the aggressive immune cells.
- **Immunotherapy**: To regulate the immune response.
- **Steroids**: To reduce inflammation.
- **Blood transfusions**: To manage low blood counts.
- **Antibiotics/Antiviral medications**: To fight infections.
- **Stem cell transplant**: For a potential cure, especially if the condition is genetic.
The cost of Kwee’s treatment was overwhelming, and the family is struggling to keep up with medical bills and related expenses. Your support and kindness have meant the world to Kwee and their family during this challenging journey. While we mourn Kwee’s loss, we also remember the love, strength, and resilience demonstrated.
We are raising funds to try to cover medical costs and funeral expenses. Your generous contributions will help alleviate the financial burden and allow the family to focus on healing.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and love during this difficult time.
