Kushala Sip Coffee House opened up its doors in Stoneham, Massachusetts in July 2015. While our journey hasn’t always been easy, it has been personal rewarding, seeing our customers enjoying the experience we created. We are part of this community, and care for its well being.
We are doing all we can to continue providing excellent service in everything we do during this challenging time for everyone. As a small business, our goal is to continue supporting our employees and vendors, to ensure the continuity of Kushala Sip during these unprecedented circumstances due to COVID-19.
We are looking to raise enough money to cover payroll, inventory, utilities, and rent for 2 to 3 months. Currently our sales have dropped over 50% , since the restrictions to restaurants were announced. We continue offering take outs, pick ups and deliveries. However, the cost of operating deliveries through third party vendors is high. We started doing our own deliveries to try and reduce this cost. The funds that we hope to raise here will be utilize to cover payroll, inventory and operation costs as follows, except for taxes and current liabilities.
Payroll = $13,000/month (8 hourly employees). Three more employees chose to stop working out of precaution. We understand their concern and support their decision. And we hope to have them back once things settle down. Recently, we hired one additional employee who’s currently in training, and the rest are covering the remaining shifts.
Inventory+Operating Expenses = $20,000/month. Includes all third party delivery costs, thats 30% of every sale, and our own delivery.
Rent/Maintenance expense=$3,000/month (deferred temporarily for April)
We partnered with the Senior Center by waiving delivery fee for senior citizens while we navigate this crisis together. We thank Cards for Community for using some of their GoFundMe campaign donations with us by purchasing gift cards, thus fulfilling their campaign commitment for supporting local small businesses like ours.
We are starting this fund raiser after thoughtful consideration of current circumstances in conjunction of the relief efforts provided by the government. These relief programs will help to cover close to 2 months worth of payroll, and some expenses. However, all research and expert opinion indicate that it may take several months for circumstance to get back to “normal”. If we want to keep Kushala Sip open, we need to raise enough money to sustain the current decline in sales for a longer period of time.
Small businesses are an important part of every community. They provide employment, bring income tax to towns, enrich our neighborhoods, and improve the value of our homes. Kushala Sip Coffee House is not an exception. We know everyone is in the same situation right now, and not everyone is in the position to support all small business. If you are able to help, and any other business in need, you can rest assured that it will be worth it. Please share this fundraiser and help us increase our chances to reach our goal.
