Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of my dad, Kurt. Some of you may know, some may not, my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 Colorectal Cancer on August 29th, unexpectedly. He is a loving father, grandfather, son and friend to many. As many of you probably know - he can light up an entire room with his humor and has always been willing to give the shirt off of his back to anybody. He is the rock in his children’s life but that doesn’t even begin to compare to the way his grandson looks at him. He loves to be outdoors - hunting, fishing, having family time or doing “projects.”

He had to undergo an emergency surgery to get an ostomy bag and spent 8 days in the hospital for his initial stay. Since then he has received a port placed for his chemo and has started his first round of Chemotherapy. After Chemotherapy he will start Radiation and be taking the oral Chemotherapy pills along side of that.

He for sure has a year to a year and a half of treatment, if all goes well and the tumors shrink. The goal is to have the tumor shrink so they can do surgery and remove the tumor. After he has healed from the tumor removal the goal is to then reverse the ostomy bag. So currently there are two more for sure surgeries planned for the future.

They have also found 2 spots on his lungs, they’re just not big enough to confidently do a biopsy on those. At the moment, we don’t know if they’re cancer or not, they will be keeping an eye on those in the future and possibly switch up the treatment plan.

With all the necessary appointments, treatments, biopsies, and other medical needs it has not only caused a financial burden, but emotion one as well. Considering all of the treatments and side effects he’s unable to work and with all of the appointments every week the added expenses are just beyond what he can cover on his own, along with his diet change, ostomy supplies, medical bills and everyday expenses.

My dad and our family are asking for any kind of support as we navigate this very challenging time.
