After years of waiting and searching, the family finally received hopeful news — Kurt’s mother, Elvira, is a match and is willing to donate her kidney to save her son’s life. However, the cost of the transplant in the Philippines is overwhelming. Hospitals require the entire bill to be paid before a patient can leave, making the financial burden especially difficult. Through scholarships and government assistance, the family has been able to reduce the balance, but the remaining amount is still far beyond what they can afford.
