Staff at Clark County Detention Center have relied on Krystal Carey's professional guidance for many years in her role as a nurse practitioner. She is a single parent of a 13-year-old, also caring for her elderly mother. Krystal recently had some elective surgery done and developed a condition that destroyed 15% of her skin. She has been hospitalized for over a month and has no other financial support, as she used all of her PTO time weeks ago. Now she's beginning the long, painful process of having skin grafts, and will take several more weeks to heal before she can return to work and be able to support her family.
