Support Kristy's Road to Recovery

On May 1st our Other Mother, Kristy Tenwick Szablya, was doing what she does best, helping students, when she fell backward 10 feet onto asphalt and was severely injured. She was taken to the Pullman ER where, after multiple CT scans and MRIs, it was discovered that she had bleeding in her brain on both frontal lobes. She was airlifted via helicopter to Spokane where she spent 7 nights in the ICU before she was transferred to a therapeutic rehabilitation facility for another 8 days. Though she received excellent care, she is still recovering from her injuries and we expect at least another 12 months of therapy and recovery before life starts to look like it used to. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can have lasting and possibly permanent symptoms. Kristy is trying to heal while still meeting the commitments of her two businesses, Your Other Mother and Moscow/Pullman Bedfinders. She needs help with basic daily tasks, and more complex business responsibilities, and in managing the injury-related expenses that are coming in. We're expecting medical bills alone to be in the tens of thousands, plus ongoing in-home care and the peripheral expenses we didn't even know would come up. Considering all the love and care that she has provided to us and our students for years, we'd like to give back in her time of need.
I've created this fundraiser with her daughter, Maria, as the beneficiary so she can help her mother with paying bills and whatever is needed. All funds will go directly to the Szablya family to pay for medical bills and ongoing needs.
