We come to you today with heavy hearts to share the story of our dear friend, Kristin. She is a loving wife and a devoted mother of two beautiful young children. Kristin’s husband Chris was offered a promotion that required them to move to the Pacific Northwest. Excited by the prospect of a close-knit community, excellent schools, and the natural beauty of the area, Kristin believed that Camas would be the perfect fit for her family. Little did she know that this year would be one filled with unimaginable challenges.

Shortly after settling into their new home, Kristin began experiencing severe stomach pains and other distressing symptoms. Her gastroenterologist recommended a routine colonoscopy, which revealed devastating news - she had a large tumor in her colon and it was cancerous. Further scans confirmed a stage 4 cancer diagnosis, with tumors also present in her liver. Despite the setbacks, Kristin’s determination to fight for her life has never wavered.

Kristin underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but it proved too large to safely remove. The procedure resulted in her needing a colostomy bag and having her ovaries removed. Undeterred by these challenges, she rolled up her sleeves and embarked on a rigorous treatment regimen, including chemotherapy. In her quest to find the best possible chance for recovery, Kristin extensively researched alternative cancer therapies and sought guidance from other survivors.

Despite enduring the painful side effects of chemotherapy, and always maintaining hope, the treatment did not achieve the desired results of shrinking the tumors. Kristin faced disappointment after a year of fighting. She has now transitioned to a new treatment plan, complemented by consultations with a naturopath and regular visits to her oncologist. Unfortunately, recent scans have revealed the presence of tumors in her lumbar spine and suspected tumors in her lungs. Kristin, once an active and independent woman, now finds it difficult to perform even simple tasks or take a short walk outside. Her physical condition has deteriorated to the point where she has spent the past eight weeks bedridden, unable to fulfill basic household responsibilities.

The financial burdens that accompany Kristin’s medical journey have become overwhelming. While insurance coverage alleviates some of the costs, it falls short of covering all of the necessary testing, treatment and care she requires. In her relentless pursuit of life, Kristin has discovered a potential breakthrough: a stem cell treatment that may halt the progression of her cancer. This treatment has shown promising results, including cases of remission and, in rare instances, complete cure. However, it comes at a significant cost of approximately $6500 per treatment and she may require several of them, which insurance does not cover.

Today, we humbly reach out to all of you, imploring your support for Kristin’s fight against this merciless disease. We need to spread the word far and wide, rallying together to provide the financial assistance she urgently needs to pursue the life-prolonging stem cell treatment. Kristin’s cancer may not be curable, but this treatment offers the best chance for her to spend more precious time with her beloved children and husband.
