Support Kristin's Fight Against Leukemia
Donation protected
Hi friends! Straight to the point. After a routine blood test, many specialist consultations, and a bone marrow biopsy, our superwoman, Kristin Milligan, has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (cancer of the blood).
She has been in Rush Hospital for the past few weeks and just finished her last round of induction chemo today (it’s an intense inpatient chemo with the goal to wipe out her existing blood cells). She has another bone biopsy on the 11th to see if the chemo is working.
The team of doctors told her family they have decided she needs a full stem cell transplant for her best chance of recovery. They are in the beginning stages of finding a donor that is a perfect match. It’s all new to everyone so they are learning as they go.
She’s been so strong and even completed a 10k walking the halls of the leukemia ward! But she has a long road ahead of her and won’t be able to return to work for quite some time, since the chemo and stem cell transplant will completely wipe out her immune system.
Anything you can give to help support her and her family during this difficult time with medical expenses and monthly bills is appreciated. Kristin has done so much for all of us throughout the years and it’s our turn to return the favor. Please share!
