You know those friends you have that come in like a wrecking-ball and never leave?? That’s Kristin.
What seems like a lifetime ago, I started working at Pleasant Springs Pub, where I met Kristin. One night she came into the bar when I was working and she said “clear your schedule… you’re coming tubing with us and I’m not taking No for an answer”… so I went. What was I supposed to do?
She quickly became one of my best friends. She is a friend you can call in the middle of the night for anything and she would be there. There was even a time when I was sick and couldn’t dress myself and she would drive 15 min out of her way twice a day to help me. That is just who she is.
Almost 8 years ago, at the age of 32, Kristin was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in February 2015. Ross, her son was only 8 months old when she got this tragic news. Through God, and pure willpower she is still fighting. Fighting a HARD fight. In the span of the last 8 years, she has endured over a dozen surgeries and countless rounds of chemo. Though she is the STRONGEST person I have ever met, these treatments take a lot out of you. There have been ups and downs through this process, but she takes them all in stride. Her last stay in the hospital lasted 63 days, but even then, she remained optimistic.
People always ask how they can help. I suggested that we have another benefit for her and her family because she has been fighting so long, but she was too humble and declined. We finally compromised on having a Go-Fund Me…… Now we can help.
We can help ease the stress of medical bills. We can help lower the financial burden of having only one income when they are used to two. This coming January it will be 3 years since she is able to work. We can help ease some of the stress this family copes with day to day.
I am so lucky to have Jon, Kristin, and Ross in my life, and anyone who knows them feels the same. Let’s all come together to show them how much we love them, how much we support them, and how many people are in Kristin’s corner. Nobody fights alone.
Thank you all for donating and sharing! I can’t wait to see what an impact we can make for this family we love so much!
Love, Nicole
