For those who don't know me, my name is Kristine Locke. I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer on my head called Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans in mid-June of this year. I had my first surgery to remove the cancer on Friday, August 23rd, and have been out of work since that time, which, at the time that I'm writing this on September 13th, has been exactly 3 weeks out of work so far.
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been praying for me!!! It is SO very appreciated!!!
The good news is that I have clear margins now, so it seems that they were able to remove all of the cancer from my head. Yay! Thank you, God!!! ❤️
I will be having another surgery for reconstructing my head in the near future (hopefully within the next week or two), but at the time of this writing, it has not been scheduled yet.
That reconstruction surgery will consist of them taking some of my scalp from the back of my head and moving it to the top of my head, and then taking a skin graft from my leg and putting that on the back of my head, so that my bald area will be on the back of my head instead of the top, which shouldn't be too noticeable when my hair is down.
I'm unable to work between the two surgeries because I'm missing a large piece of my scalp on top of my head, and I will be unable to work for an additional 6 weeks following the reconstruction surgery, for a total of at least 11 weeks out of work, without pay.
As you can imagine, this is causing me a lot of financial strain. Without being able to work, I don't have an income and my bills still need to get paid. I'm really struggling and very stressed about this.
I'm creating this GoFundMe to raise $2,800 to replace some of my income for the total 11+ weeks that I'll be out of work, so that I will be able to keep up on my expenses. If you are able to help me, I appreciate it SO VERY MUCH!! I hate to have to ask, but I really NEED to.
Every little bit helps. Even if you can only give $5, it still helps a lot. A lot of people doing just a little bit can make a big difference and help me through this terrible time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for considering helping me.
