My name is Kristina Andrews, and I’m 31 years old. On June 18, my life changed forever when I fell from the fourth floor of an apartment building, suffering a devastating ASIA B spinal cord injury at C6. I am now paralyzed from the chest down.
I spent a month at Tampa General Hospital and am currently at NeuLife Rehabilitation Center, where I receive specialized physical therapy and electrotherapy five days a week — treatment that is essential for me to have a chance at walking again.
Unfortunately, my Medicaid does not cover my rehabilitation stay. The hospital covered my first month, but now I am facing being discharged to a 24-hour nursing facility that cannot offer the same therapy. If I’m forced to leave, I will lose access to the care I desperately need, and my progress — and future independence — could be gone forever.
I have a small family that are unable to help me financially, so I am facing this fight largely alone. My case manager has run out of options, and I have only one week left before I may be transferred out of NeuLife.
This is why I am humbly asking for your help. I have a two year-old daughter that needs her mom to be as well off as possible.
Your donation will go directly toward keeping me in the rehabilitation center where I have the best chance to regain mobility and independence.
Even the smallest gift can make a life-changing difference. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing my story — your kindness could connect me with someone who can help.
At 31, I still have dreams, goals, and a life I want to live to the fullest. Right now, I’m scared, I’m fighting depression and anxiety, and I’m clinging to hope that there are people out there who will help me keep fighting.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give.
With gratitude,
Kristina Andrews
