There are so many ways to describe Kristina Combs. She is kind and beautiful and each meeting is filled with her sweet smile and gentle spirit. If you have the privilege of knowing Kristina, you cannot help but to love her.

She can also be described as the loving wife to her high school sweetheart, Quentin. She is the definition of a Boy Mom to the loves of her life Kye, Avi, Bae and Taj. She is a Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Niece, the Cousin of many and a Friend to many more. The list could truly go on and on, but never in our wildest imagination would we have dreamt that, at only 39 years old, “cancer patient” would be added.

In the last few weeks, Kristina has had numerous appointments, tests and procedures. Doctors have determined that Kristina’s cancer is rare and complex. There are still many unanswered questions as we are in the early stages of her diagnosis, but we do know that she will require specialized treatment. In a few weeks, Kristina and Quentin will make their first trip to MD Anderson in Texas where she will meet with experts in the field.

While we are waiting for this appointment as patiently as possible, we know that cancer is not. It does not wait for our timelines or follow any rules. For this reason, it has been decided that treatments should not be delayed and chemotherapy should begin locally. She will have her first treatment on Monday, August 19th. Kristina, and her family, have a very long road ahead.

This GoFundMe page has been created in hopes of alleviating some of the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis - missed work, unexpected medical expenses, travel costs and more, all on top of normal daily living expenses. It is unbelievable how quickly these expenses begin to add up. We want Kristina and Quentin to be able to maintain as much normalcy as possible for their family; with Quentin coaching both high school and junior high track and field at Corydon Central and Kristina attending the meets, cheering from the sidelines as often as she can. And, most importantly, we do not want financial stress to take any of the strength, energy and focus that will be needed for this battle ahead of them.
