Kristina, a pediatric nurse in the emergency department, is facing every parent’s nightmare. During a football game, Kristina’s son Noah was seriously injured and brought into her own workplace as a trauma red. He suffered a C5 burst fracture with fragments going into the spinal canal, was intubated for emergency surgery, and then had to undergo a second emergency surgery shortly after to protect his airway.
Noah is now stable and starting rehab in the hospital until he is medically cleared to go to an acute care rehab. This has been an incredibly stressful time for Kristina, Noah, and their whole family. Along with the physical recovery ahead, Noah is also coping with the fact that he can no longer play football.
Kristina is a deeply dedicated mom to all four of her children, and right now she is staying by Noah’s side while he is away from home for care. That has meant time away from her other children as she focuses on helping Noah through this critical stage of recovery.
Donations will help with medical expenses, needed equipment, food, transportation to and from medical facilities, and other costs that come up while Kristina cares for Noah. Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser, would mean so much to their family as they navigate the difficult road ahead.
