Update on My Mom, Kristin Silva
Hi everyone,
This is Christian — I wanted to give a personal update about my mom, Kristin Silva. Today we got some tough news from the hospice team. Because she doesn’t have Medicaid, her only option is home hospice. She’s still having trouble swallowing and breathing, but this is the only path available, and she’s made it clear that she wants to be at home.
I won’t share too much personal detail, but to be honest, we’re all struggling. Between the medical bills, the constant back and forth from the hospital, and missing work, it’s been extremely hard on our family — especially on me and my brother.
Once she’s home, the hospice nurse will only be coming once a week to bathe her and help keep her comfortable. The rest of the time, it’s completely on us as a family to care for her around the clock. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to get a full-time in-home caregiver, so we’re doing our best to prepare the house and set everything up before she comes home later this week.
We’re asking for prayers and support as we go through this incredibly difficult time. I’ll be posting a GoFundMe on my page soon — if anyone feels led to help in any way, it would mean the world to us. And if you can’t, we completely understand. Just keeping us in your thoughts and prayers is more than enough.
Thank you so much for all the love, support, and kind words you’ve already shown. It really does help.
