Hello, my name is Angela, and I am the proud Godmother of Kristian Captain, a courageous 14-year-old boy who has bravely battled debilitating sickle cell anemia his entire life.

Kristian’s journey has been filled with unimaginable challenges. Countless hospital admissions, painful sickle cell crises, an overwhelming number of blood transfusions, daily pain medication, and the constant threat of acute complications have made it impossible for him to experience a normal childhood. Yet, through it all, his strength and faith shine brightly.

Recently, Kristian received life-changing news—he has been approved to undergo stem cell replacement surgery, a rigorous procedure that offers hope for a cure. Securing insurance approval took nearly a year, and the preparation for surgery is already underway and intense, involving monthly transfusions and hospital admissions for stem cell extraction procedures. His surgery is scheduled for December, and every step leading up to it is critical.

Through it all, Kristian’s devoted mother, Denise Captain, has never left his side. She has spent countless nights in the hospital, enduring the pain and heartache of watching her son endure so much and being unable to do anything to change it until now. Her unwavering commitment has come at a cost: Denise has lost multiple jobs over the years because of the demands of caring for Kristian, including her most recent position, which she was encouraged to resign from to maintain a chance to return after the procedure.

Now, they are facing mounting financial strain. In addition to medical bills, daily hospital parking, fuel, and meals, they also need support for basic living expenses to keep a roof over their heads and maintain stability during this critical period.
