Support Kristi Gates-Schuk's Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
On April 11th, my incredible wife and best friend, Kristi Gates-Schuk, suffered a severe hemorrhagic (Left-Brain) stroke that has significantly impacted her life. After more than three weeks in neuro-critical care, she is now stable but had initially lost the use of her right side and 95% of her speech.

Kristi has begun the long and challenging road to rehabilitation and recovery. Anyone who knows Kristi understands how bright, kind-hearted, and incredibly giving she is. Her passion has always been in giving her all, working with children, both in daycare and as an elementary school teacher, but now, she needs our support.

This crisis has come at a time of major transition for our family. Having recently left my previous job and preparing to start a new one, we now find ourselves without health insurance, income, or employer-provided benefits. My priority now needs to be on supporting Kristi's recovery and caring for our two boys, Dane and Gage, making the timing for my returning to work uncertain.

As Kristi concentrates on her healing, the financial pressures are steadily increasing. Beyond the substantial medical and rehabilitation expenses, we are facing the everyday costs of living and raising our children. The process for accessing social safety nets is lengthy, potentially taking over a year.

We are hoping to raise enough funds to help alleviate the financial burden during this critical period, until Kristi is stable and I am able to return to work and continue to support our family. These funds will go directly towards her ongoing medical care, therapy, living expenses, and ensuring stability for Dane, Gage, and myself. Every contribution, no matter the size, will have a significant impact. Even if you're unable to donate, sharing this message would be a tremendous help in reaching others who may be in a position to support us.

On a positive note, Kristi has regained her speech and graduated from her Speech Therapy on Friday, May 9th! She is making great progress with her physical and occupational therapy. Her therapists are seeing remarkable potential with her muscle memory and are encouraged about a considerable recovery that was not initially clear.

Kristi has always been there as a source of support and kindness for her community, family, and friends. Now more than ever, she is in need of the same strength, support, and kindness.

Thank you in advance for your compassion, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
