Hello everyone, my name is Michael. Last week, my wife Kristen experienced chest pains and other symptoms, prompting her admission to the hospital. Following an extended hospital stay and a series of tests, the medical team discovered multiple blockages in the valves leading to her heart. Given the extent of the blockages, stents were deemed ineffective, and the doctor informed us that Kristen requires a quadruple bypass heart surgery. Due to the urgency of the situation, the procedure needs to be performed immediately. Kristen is scheduled to undergo major open-heart surgery tomorrow, Monday, November 17. This is an extremely complex surgical procedure.

For those who may not be aware, our daughter Grace has Down syndrome and autism, necessitating a full-time caregiver. Kristen has been Grace's primary caregiver. I have taken Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at work, which ensures job security, but I will no longer receive a salary. As the sole source of income in our household, we are transitioning from a full-time income to zero income. We are seeking assistance with basic necessities, medical expenses related to Kristen's surgery and recovery, as well as medical insurance premiums. Additionally, we require help with rent, car payments, and utility bills.

With $0 income, I will assume the role of full-time caregiver for both Grace and Kristen during this period. Kristen's expected recovery time is up to 14 weeks post-surgery. Unfortunately, we reside in South Carolina, where we lack an extensive support network of family members who can provide significant assistance. I will now be responsible for taking Grace to her therapies and appointments, while also caring for Kristen upon her hospital discharge.
