My name is Kristen Wright. I am a 44-year-old single mom of 4 wonderful children and 3 grandchildren. I work hard to provide for my family. A couple of weeks ago, I got a small itchy spot on the front of my hip/abdomen. It quickly turned red and painful to the surrounding area within only a couple of days. After seeing a couple of doctors, I landed in the emergency room last Thursday, 5/14/25, and was there for a few days on IV antibiotics. On Saturday afternoon, they decided on surgery to cut, drain, and remove any bad tissue. This left me with a 6 1/2 inch cut across my lower abdomen, 1 1/4 inch deep, and 1/2 inch wide incision that has to heal from the inside out. I now have a midline in my arm for twice-daily IV antibiotics and have a home nurse that comes daily to undress, unpack, and repack the wound. This is extremely painful. The doctors have told me it will take at least a month just for the inner part to heal, and close to 2 months for the whole thing to close. This is as long as everything heals well with no setbacks.

I was completely caught off guard with an emergency like this. It not only limits my ability to get around and do many things, but also to go to work. I do not want my family to suffer even more by not being able to provide for at least 2 months.

It was hard for me to make this page and ask for help, but knowing how extensive my recovery will be, I know I cannot do it alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
