Our IVF Journey
Hello everyone, Logan and I would like to thank you for your time and consideration as you read this. This is the most vulnerable time in our lives and we are desperate for a miracle.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think at 30 years old I would be told “time is of the essence” if we wanted to have children of our own. As a kindergarten teacher I always thought my own children were right around the corner. From a visit with my OBGYN, I was rapidly referred to a fertility clinic to discuss our option, IVF. We were told this was our best option due to the severity of our circumstances. Everything happened so fast. We felt so heartbroken, confused, scared and lost. The list goes on.
In the spring Logan and I put our faith into our first fertility clinic. After a summer and after two retrievals we had our first embryo transfer, no luck and poor results overall.
In the fall, through family friends, we were connected with the top notch fertility clinic out of state. To our surprise, this out of state clinic was cheaper than our clinic in Michigan.
After our first round we were so hopeful for a positive outcome. Our numbers were the highest we’ve ever seen. This was our second embryo transfer. Just before Christmas we received optimistic news, a positive pregnancy test. This was short lived as days later we got the devastating news that it was a biochemical pregnancy. We were back to square one.
Roughly a month and a half later we were back at our out of state clinic ready and hopeful. This was our third full round of IVF. To our amazement our numbers were even better. We were so excited. Again we went to transfer and again we were given soul crushing news. Negative again.
And here we are, ready to start again but crippled by the financial strain. Our medical team is confident that with persistence we will be successful.
Unfortunately our insurance does not cover any procedures or medications. Each round of IVF is $25,000 without insurance coverage.
Any support is immensely appreciated as we continue in our efforts to start our family.
