Support Kristen Harriss' Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
Kristen Harriss was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in August of 2024 after having experienced blood loss and associated symptoms in May and June of 2024.

She was hospitalized on August 21 to begin her induction chemotherapy treatment. When her initial induction chemotherapy was through, she got a Bone Marrow Biopsy and unfortunately the pathology still showed 35% blasts in her marrow. Consequently, she remained in the hospital and received a second, more toxic round of chemotherapy. This time, her Bone Marrow Biopsy showed 0% blasts. She is still currently hospitalized.

On October 9, her Oncologist delivered the news that she has a chromosomal mutation. Unfortunately, chemotherapy alone will not be enough to put her into long term remission and it was recommended that she receive a Bone Marrow Transplant. She and her family will be traveling to MD Anderson in Houston sometime in the near where she will receive the transplant.

Kristen is an Occupational Therapy Assistant for Sunshine Center in Broken Arrow, OK. She has worked there for 12 years, and if you ask anyone who knows her, you will realize what a huge part of her heart she has given to the children she treats there. She is loved by the children she treats as well as by the people she is so blessed to work with. We are so grateful for the love and support she is receiving from
her colleagues at Sunshine Center.

Kristen is also very involved in her church - Eastland Baptist of Tulsa - where she ministers to children in the Awana program. She gives another big part of her heart to these children and their families. She also enjoys praising God through participating in the choir! We are so thankful for the love and support her church is offering. May God receive the glory for so many people being the hands and feet of Jesus!

Unfortunately, Kristen has not been able to work or serve at church for many weeks, and will not be able to do so until her bone marrow transplant is complete and she has recovered to the point where her immune system can protect her from illnesses. While Kristen is receiving many blessings from Sunshine Center and Eastland Baptist Church ( and scores of other family, friends, and acquaintances), it is time to consider the long term costs being incurred due to her illness.

Therefore, this GoFundMe campaign aims to supply Kristen and her family with the funds to meet deductibles, co-pays, and out of pocket medical expenses. In addition, funds will be used for travel back and forth between Tulsa and Houston, as well as for food, lodging, and basic living expenses. It is unclear how long Kristen will be in Houston, but we do know it will be for an extended amount of time.

I have known Kristen and her family for approximately 15 years. We became fast friends, and I can honestly say she is one of my favorite people! Watching her kindness and compassion toward other people even while hospitalized and going through a very difficult time has been a true testimony of her faith and her character. Her friends at Sunshine Center and Eastland Baptist realize what a special friend and colleague she is and love and respect her so much.

Kristen and her family, as well as her extended family at Sunshine and Eastland, thank you for your consideration in donating. They want God to receive the glory, and look forward to seeing God at work during this time of trial.

Thank You!
