Support Krista's Life-Saving Bone Marrow Transplant

With a heavy heart, we seek your help. After battling Hodgkins Lymphoma twice before, our beloved Krista has had a relapse.

A routine CT scan last April came back abnormal. After the initial biopsy was inconclusive, an additional invasive biopsy in June confirmed the devastating news that the cancer had returned for a third time.

However, Krista doesn’t ever give up. She spent the summer searching for clinical trials but discovered nothing was available for her diagnosis. Her oncology team then recommended she have another stem cell transplant, this time using a donor. This is called an allogenic stem cell transplant also known as a bone marrow transplant (BMT). One must be in remission before a BMT can occur, so Krista spent most of last fall traveling back and forth between Orlando and Tampa, where she underwent chemo + immunotherapy at the Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC) in Tampa, FL.

Krista reached remission in November and, by the grace of God, Moffitt found a perfect match donor in December! She will be undergoing this life-saving BMT to ensure that this cancer never finds her again!

Krista is scheduled for admission at Moffitt’s hospital this Sunday, January 19th. She will need to remain in the hospital for about a month, where she will undergo high dose chemo and then her allogenic BMT. After these procedures are completed, Moffitt requires that she stay in the Tampa area for about 100 days to monitor her symptoms post transplant due to the risks of complications, such as donor cell rejection.

This is a challenging journey, physically, emotionally, and financially and we want to surround her with as much love, support, positivity and peace of mind as we possibly can. As you can imagine, the procedure and recovery comes with significant expenses and a financial strain, as Krista will not be able to work for quite some time. Her family is doing everything we can to help ease the burden. We created this GoFundMe for Krista to ask for additional support. Your contributions towards Krista and her family will go towards medical expenses, traveling, and lodging during her cancer treatment.
