If you’ve ever had the privilege of knowing Kristal, you know she is the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone else. Whether you needed a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply someone to make you laugh, she was there. She has always been hardworking, compassionate, and full of life.
More than anything, Kristal is a devoted mom. Her 22-year-old son, Deklan, has always been the center of her world, and watching him suddenly step into the role of supporting his mom through one of the hardest seasons of their lives has been heartbreaking. No child is ever prepared to see a parent go through something like this, especially so unexpectedly.
On May 14, their lives changed in an instant.
Without warning, Kristal suffered a major stroke caused by a blood clot in the left side of her brain. She was rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors worked quickly to remove the clot and save her life. While we are incredibly grateful she survived, the road ahead is one we never imagined.
The stroke left her with paralysis on the right side of her body and significant difficulty speaking. Every day has brought new therapies, setbacks, victories, and hard work. Through it all, she continues to show incredible strength and determination.
Recovery from a stroke is not measured in days or weeks it’s measured in months, and often years. Kristal has begun intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. While she is making progress, she still has a long journey ahead. Kristal has reached an exciting milestone in her recovery as she makes her way to the QLI rehabilitation program in Omaha.
As you can imagine, this medical emergency has created an overwhelming financial burden. Between hospital stays, rehabilitation, therapy, medications, travel, and while she focuses on recovery, the expenses continue to grow. The last thing Kristal or her family should have to worry about during this time is how these bills will be paid.
If you are unable to donate, we completely understand. Sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community is another meaningful way to support Kristal and help us reach those who may be able to help.
Thank you for being part of her journey.
