Support Krista Hall's Liver Transplant Recovery
Donation protected
I want to 1st thank everyone for all the messages, donations and prayers. Krista had her transplant Thursday night and surgery went well. When she came back from surgery intubated and was weaned off vent on Friday. Krista had complaints of SOB and pain. Because of her symptoms a CTA was done to look for a clot in her lungs. At this time it was decided she would need to be reintubated. The CT did not show a clot but lots at fluid around her lungs. Krista remained intubated so her lungs could expand and they would start diuretics on Sunday.
Krista has some confusion whether it be the meds or just her transplant. She is getting tube feeds through her NG. Still not eating great but slow and steady.
They feel she is ready to leave ICU today Krista has a long road ahead of her and all the prayers mean the world to her and her family.
Dan has been at her side nonstop. So your continued donations mean a lot. Thank you all so much!!
Hi my name is Melissa and I am Krista Hall’s much older sister. Krista would make sure that this was known by all.
I’m not sure how to write this or where to begin. But here goes nothing ….
Wednesday Feb 19th Krista’s son noticed Krista eyes were yellowing and on Thursday he told her again. Krista was seen by PCP where labs and a CT were ordered. Krista had CT on Monday Feb 24. Krista was called on the 25th and told she needed to come in for more labs and an MRCP and to follow up with GI.
Krista and Dan met with GI that following Monday where it was confirmed it was not cancer. Still no definitive answers. Krista had a MRCP which showed cirrhoses. On Tuesday March 4 Krista went to the ER where she was admitted and spent a week. During this week Krista had a liver Biopsy, and a paracenteses. Now to wait for results. The results were back and confirmed what we had been told before. Again told it was cirrhoses. Aspirus St Lukes reached out to U of M where Krista was accepted but no bed available. We waited for 4 long days for a bed. Word finally came a bed was available on Monday and it couldn’t have come soon enough. Krista was taken by air to U of M on Tuesday Morning the 11th. Krista was very critical where they said she needed to have a liver transplant sooner than later. U of M also confirmed Krista in fact did not have cirrhosis but was acute liver disease caused by an autoimmune disease that they suspected was caused by medication she only took for 6 months for her RA. Krista was told she had an autoimmune liver failure.
On the 12th Krista’s ammonia level was high and emergent dialysis was needed and done. A liver was available and she would receive her new liver on the 13th. As I write this story Krista has been in surgery for aprox an hour.
Krista will be out of work for aprox 9 months and will have to live in close proximity to the U of M for a month . Krista is the main bread winner and Dan will be taking time off to be with his wife. We want to be able to help with house payments and car payments and any and all other expenses that will arise in the next 9 months. The Hall family and all Krista’s extended family will and would appreciate any donation, and all the prayers!! Thank you for reading
