Kris Washer has always been the kind of person who puts others first. For nearly 20 years, he’s been a part of our family—first as a neighbor, and now as my brother-in-law. He’s the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to a stranger and has always been there for us without hesitation. Kris and my sister have been together for four years, building a strong, supportive relationship that has helped them weather life’s challenges together.

Yesterday morning, Kris was involved in a devastating head-on collision that was no fault of his own. He suffered multiple serious injuries, including a crushed ankle and foot, a ruptured spleen, and a damaged vertebra at the base of his spine. He’s already undergone emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding, and he faces more surgeries in the near future to repair his foot, ankle, and eventually his back. The road to recovery will be long and uncertain, with many challenges ahead. Kris does not have health insurance, which makes the financial burden even greater and adds urgency to our need for support.

We are raising funds to help cover the mounting expenses that come with this kind of trauma. Kris will be out of work for the foreseeable future, and my sister will also need to take time off to care for him. This means a sudden loss of both incomes, making it difficult to keep up with bills and daily expenses. Additionally, there are significant transportation costs as they travel between Pulaski and Syracuse for Kris’s ongoing treatment. Any support will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on what matters most—Kris’s recovery and healing.
