Kris Walts Duzik is a loving, giving, and silly person who has always put others first. The day after Thanksgiving, she was rushed from her home to the hospital in Casper, Wyoming, after experiencing severe respiratory distress. Doctors quickly discovered that influenza A had attacked her lungs so severely that she needed to be placed on a ventilator and fully sedated. Because of her connective tissue disease and another autoimmune condition, Kris’s body was unable to fight off the flu, and she is now battling a serious lung infection.
Kris has been in the ICU, receiving constant care, antibiotics, and antiviral medications. Her family and friends are anxiously waiting for the day she can be taken off the ventilator and woken up from sedation. The uncertainty of her recovery has been incredibly hard, especially during the holidays, when her absence is deeply felt by everyone who loves her.
We are starting this fundraiser to help cover Kris’s hospital bills and everyday expenses, such as car payments and insurance, while she is unable to work. Kris is fully responsible for these costs, and the financial burden is overwhelming. Any support you can offer will help ease this burden and allow her family to focus on her recovery. We’re hoping Kris will make a full recovery and come home to her family, who love and miss her every day. Thank you for your kindness and support.
