As you may know, our friend and colleague, Kraig Bledson, has been struggling with health issues for the past several years. Unfortunately, Kraig’s cancer has returned, and he is in need of additional treatment.
Kraig’s journey began in 2021 when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Kraig started treatment in November 2024 and was in remission as of March 11, 2025. While he was well and healthy, and doing everything to remain so, Kraig learned recently that his cancer had returned. As a result, Kraig will soon be undergoing a very intensive course of T-cell therapy.
Specifically, as Kraig explains, “I will begin chemotherapy on March 25, 26, and 27. Beginning March 30, I will be admitted to the hospital for CAR-T cell therapy treatment. CAR-T therapy is an intensive and highly monitored treatment. The initial hospital stay typically lasts one to three weeks, and in some cases longer, depending on complications and side effects. In addition, patients require close monitoring for at least 30 days following infusion due to the risk of serious reactions such as cytokine release syndrome and neurologic effects. Because of these risks, recovery timelines can be unpredictable, and medically mandated monitoring cannot be shortened. I will be out until the end of the school year. God willing, I will return to work in August.”
While Kraig has 10 sick days remaining for this year, most of his time will be taken as unpaid FMLA leave. To the end, Kraig will be experiencing a great deal of financial strain during his recovery. The purpose of this campaign is to provide Kraig with financial support until he is back on his feet and ready to return to work with us. While these campaigns can be challenging for all of us, please give if you are able so that Kraig may focus his energy and attention on his recovery without the undue burden of the significant financial strain. Whether or not you are able to contribute, please share Kraig’s story. Thank you for your attention and your support of our dear colleague.
