Kourtney has been courageously battling Type 1 diabetes since she was just 3 years old, and in recent years developed kidney failure that required dialysis three days a week while she waited on the transplant list for a second chance at life.
On February 22nd, Kourtney finally received the call she had been waiting for — a kidney and pancreas transplant. While this life-saving surgery brought hope for a healthier future, her recovery has been far more complicated than anyone anticipated.
Just one day later, on February 23rd, Kourtney had to undergo a second surgery due to complications. After spending time in the hospital, she was finally able to return home on March 2nd, hoping the hardest part was behind her.
Unfortunately, her journey is not over yet.
On March 10th, Kourtney was admitted back into CPMC in San Francisco after developing a serious bacterial infection that required a third surgery. She is currently recovering in the hospital and is connected to a wound vacuum, which means her body must now heal slowly from the inside out. Once she is discharged, she will require multiple weekly trips to wound care and continued close medical supervision.
This has taken an enormous physical and emotional toll on Kourtney.
Her mother, Chantall, has been by her side every step of the way as her sole caregiver. Chantall is currently on Family Medical Leave (FMLA) from work so she can stay in San Francisco to care for Kourtney during this critical time. Unfortunately, FMLA only provides a small fraction of her normal income and is only guaranteed for six weeks, leaving them facing mounting financial pressure during an already overwhelming situation.
We are asking for help to support Kourtney and Chantall during this difficult time. Donations will go toward medical-related expenses not covered by insurance, travel and lodging costs while staying in San Francisco, lost income while Chantall cares for Kourtney, and ongoing wound care and recovery needs.
If you are able to give, share, or keep Kourtney in your prayers, it would mean the world to our family. Every bit of support helps ease the burden and allows them to focus on what matters most — Kourtney’s healing and recovery.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity.
