It's been a very chaotic 24 hours, but I'll try to summarize to the best of my ability.
Korra is my soul cat- she has been there from the beginning for all of life's lows and highs. She is the sweetest cat I've ever known and is beloved by anyone that meets her, especially her vet team who sing her praises every time she's with them. She literally woke up purring after being sedated from a dental surgery. It's difficult to put into words how much she means to me and my family.
On Christmas Day, we noticed an infection in her eye and brought her in where she was given antibiotics and eye drops. Nothing too out of the normal, and she was improving. Well, last night (1/12/25), we noticed her bumping into things and getting lost in our house. I knew there was something wrong, so I rushed her to an emergency vet, and after 4 hours of waiting and tears, I found out she most likely had glaucoma (high eye pressure causing blindness). She quite literally went blind overnight. The next day, after being kept for monitoring, we brought her to a pet eye specialist where he explained that he thinks her blindness is "highly likely" to be caused by something neurological like a brain tumor alongside glaucoma. Alongside that she is suffering from facial paralysis which we assume happened from a stroke (brought on by this neurological issue) the same night as the day I brought her into the emergency vet.
We were able to book an MRI on the 21st with the only clinic that wasn't booked out for months. But unfortunately, the total between the MRI itself, the initial screenings, and anesthesia would be close to $4,000 (plus 1700 from the emergency vet and specialist). With both my parents losing their jobs in December and me not getting enough hours at the job I currently work, we would be taking a massive financial hit.
Any donation to help her get the care she needs is deeply appreciated. It makes my heart ache thinking she's in pain. Any donations will go directly to this MRI and any other testing they need to help my baby. She's a fighter and I know we can make it through this. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
