Hi, my name is Terah, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. My daughter Korie, and her husband James, are facing an unimaginable crisis. They’re a young couple in their 30’s, and just a short time ago, they were celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary, building their lives together with hope and hard work. But everything changed when James fell critically ill.
James was working full-time, supporting his family, when he began to feel unwell. What started out as fatigue turned into a nightmare: his kidneys and liver began shutting down. He ended up in the emergency room, with jaundice and bleeding uncontrollably, and that’s when doctors discovered the devastating truth- without a liver transplant he has possibly less than 3 months to live. Tragically, due to his illness and complications of his illness led to his unemployment and the loss of health insurance. Just when they needed support the most, they were left with nothing.
The one local hospital’s liver team could not take his case and referred him to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, hoping they would accept him for this life-saving procedure. James and Korie traveled to Arizona and spent two weeks in the Mayo clinic and are in the process of being put on the liver transplant list there. They are also working on potentially getting on local and nearby County hospitals liver transplant list as well.
My daughter, Korie, is doing all she can. She is a temporary teacher, fresh off earning her master’s degree, and pours her heart into her students. But her small salary- only paid when she works- is not enough to keep them afloat. They are fighting to save James’s life while juggling basic living expenses, and the weight of it all is crushing them.
This is where we need your help. We are raising $11,000 to help cover travel expenses for Korie to and from the Mayo clinic, temporary housing during treatment, COBRA insurance payments, and the mounting medical bills. Every dollar brings James closer to a transplant, relieves a little stress from the battle they are both facing, and closer to a future we are all praying they will have.
No one should have to face a choice between financial ruin and a loved one’s life. If you can donate- even just a little- it would mean the world to us. If you can’t, please share this with someone who might. Your kindness, in any form, is a lifeline for our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this, for caring, and for helping us hold onto hope.
With gratitude,
Terah Rosado
