Support Korey's Battle Against Stage IV Cancer

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. The true neighbor will risk his position, his prestige, and even his life for the welfare of others. In the dangerous valleys and hazardous pathways, he will lift some bruised and beaten brother to a higher and more noble life.” Dr. Martin Luther King had it right when he gave this speech in Montgomery in 1956. A true neighbor uplifts his brothers and sisters, especially in times of need. Our brother and friend, Korey Pearson, is a true neighbor. As many of us have experienced, he is quick to sacrifice his time, energy, and resources to join us at our most difficult time. Now, our brother, our good friend, is in need of his neighbors. 

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, a little over a year ago, doctors diagnosed Korey with Stage IV Stomach Cancer. That day unraveled several layers of profound truth, initiating a challenging battle, and a determined warrior. Korey is working diligently to overcome this challenge, enduring multiple rounds of intense treatments to eliminate the tumors. He has been hospitalized since Monday, October 7, 2024 undergoing a trial that doctors believe is promising. Yes, the journey has been long and arduous and slow, yet, his spirits remain high. His smile is bright. 

Unfortunately, because of the severity of the cancer and his lengthy hospital stay, Korey is no longer employed and is without healthcare benefits. As you can imagine, this stress has compounded an already difficult situation and presents a significant challenge for him and his family. Accustomed to offering help, our friend Korey now finds himself in a position of need.
