Help My Daughter Achieve Life-Changing Severe Scoliosis Deformity Surgery - Scheduled for Feb 6th, 2025

My daughter Kora has been living with severe daily pain for many years, unable to sleep through the night, and struggling with debilitating headaches. She is one of the strongest people I know. Despite facing daily pain and challenges from severe scoliosis, she’s never stopped trying to live her life to the fullest. She has two extreme spinal curves—one at her lower back at approximately 43 degrees and the upper at 35 degrees—that are causing significant health issues throughout her body. Without intervention, her condition will only continue to worsen, drastically affecting her quality of life.

After consulting with multiple doctors, we’ve come to the difficult but necessary decision to proceed with spinal fusion surgery. This complex, 4-hour procedure will involve multiple screws and rods to stabilize and straighten her spine. While we are hopeful for a brighter future for her, the road ahead will be challenging.

Following surgery, she will require 24/7 care for the first three weeks as she begins the long recovery process. Physical therapy will start after about four weeks, and she’ll need to take at least three months off work to focus on healing. Though nearly fully healed after six months, she will still need time to adjust to her new normal.

This surgery is her best chance at reclaiming her life and escaping the extreme pain that has dominated her daily existence. But it terrifies her, as it would anyone. She is scared of the procedure itself, yet even more fearful of what her future will look like if she doesn’t have the surgery.
