Hello everyone,

My name is Andrea, and I’m lucky enough to be the “godmother” of a very special little (BIG) cat named Koopa.

We never imagined we would be in a position like this, but I’m creating this GoFundMe because our beloved Koopa has recently been diagnosed with carcinoma in his neck—one of the more aggressive forms of cancer in felines.

Koopa isn’t just our cat—he is family. Anyone who has ever met him knows he is a true beam of light. He brings nothing but love, cuddles, laughter, and constant purrs into our lives. Whether he’s trying to “clean” us right after we step out of the shower or running to comfort someone who’s upset, Koopa is one of the most selfless and loving animals I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Seeing him go through this has been absolutely heartbreaking.

One morning, we noticed a sudden swollen lump on the back of his neck. Naturally, we were very anxious about what it could be. What made it even more confusing was that nothing else seemed wrong—Koopa still had his appetite, hadn’t lost any weight, and continued to be the same rambunctious 10-year-old boy we know and love. After taking him to the vet and running several tests, we received the news that no pet parent ever wants to hear.

Our vet was honest with us, while still being incredibly kind. At this stage, there isn’t a simple answer. With carcinoma and its severity, there is a possibility it may have already spread. He recommended we spend the weekend with Koopa, discuss our options, and follow up the next week. While there is hope, it comes with significant medical costs.

Right now, we are expecting veterinary expenses to be in the range of $3,000-$3,200 covering diagnostics, possible treatments, and medications to keep Koopa as comfortable and happy as possible.

We are doing everything we can to give Koopa the best chance at a comfortable and happy life, but we can’t do it alone.
