Announcing the passing of former MCQMRC President and Lifetime Member, Fran Kontra. Franny and his son, Michael, raced at Phoenixville from the early 1980's through the early 1990's. During that time, Franny was always extra active in the club.

Never just a show up on Wednesday "race dad", he ran for office, and was elected to the MCQMRC Board in 1985 as Vice President. The following year, he began his long term as MCQMRC President. He led this club, and led it strongly from 1986 through 1993. Franny returned as a familiar face around Phoenixville when Michael's sons, Dylan and Cody, began their quarter midget careers in the early 2010's through 2024. Those years were spent as a proud grandfather cheering on his grandsons in the same sport he brought the family into so many years before. Along with being a Lifetime Member, Franny was also inducted into the MCQMRC Hall of Fame in 2022.
