Support Kona's Recovery at Virginia Tech
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Diana and my little girl’s name is Kona, She is a beautiful one year old German Shepherd and full of life. She was sadly diagnosed with a swallowing disorder she was born with called mega esophagus, which can cause bouts of regurgitation and vomiting. Unfortunately, this puts her at a higher risk for aspiration pneumonia and nutrition concerns. She recently became ill with a fever, was lethargic and had trouble breathing. She was taken to the Virginia Tech Veterinary Teaching Hospital, which is five hours from our home, for evaluation and treatment. While there she was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, had to be put in an oxygen tank due to low oxygen levels, fed through an NG tube, and received IV antibiotics. She was admitted to their Intensive Care Unit for almost a week and is getting better from all of the care she received from all of their wonderful and professional staff. We are trying to raise money to offset the cost of her vet bill, which is currently over $5000. Any donation would be much appreciated for our little fighter. Thank you so much!! Update: Kona was discharged from Virginia Tech Vet Hospital on March 15 and is doing well so far. Thank you everyone for all of your support!!
