Hi, my name is Kolby Riley. My family and I experienced Hurricane Ian while living in Cape Coral, Florida. The experience was terrifying, and our home was severely damaged. Unable to financially fix the house, we chose to sell the home as is and move back home to Georgia to live with my grandpa in the home I grew up in. I was excited to no longer have to worry so much regarding hurricanes and the impact they would have. Hurricane Helene proved me wrong, to an extreme, and after last night's/this morning's heavy rain and strong gusts of wind, several trees came through the roof of our home. Thankfully, we had evacuated shortly before the storm truly hit—had we not, the trees would have fallen right on my daughter in her room and on top of my husband and me in our room. We are all shaken up. It hasn't truly sunk in, but we are beginning to brainstorm and solidify a plan to get our home back to being livable. Due to where we live, there is a high potential we will not have water or electricity for some time. We need some materials, tools, living supplies (food, water), and gasoline to help get the job done. Thank you for reading our story and considering us. ❤️
