Hi everyone. For those unfamiliar, my husband Karl (known to most of you as Zinger) has been suffering with polycystic kidney disease for years now. It was discovered when I was pregnant with our oldest daughter Landry who is now 17. The disease has progressed to the point that in April 2023 he had a double nephrectomy (that's a double kidney removal for us non-doctors). Since then he has been on 3 day a week dialysis since he no longer has kidneys to flush fluids from his system. He's been on the kidney registry for two years looking for a donor.

But this story isn't about Zing, it's about our wonderful friend Taletha (or Koko to you and me) who is working hard to be a living donor to Zing. She has been going through the testing process for a year now and we are close to the finish line (we hope!). We just found out this week that more testing is needed to make sure that she is approved for donation which unfortunately means more out of pocket expense for her. To date she has spent the equivalent of this go fund me request to complete the required testing and re-testing in some cases so we are looking to the generosity of our family and friends to help us make her whole for everything has spent and will need to spend to finish this process. Being a living donor should not come at the expense of the donor but unfortunately the tests have not been covered by the transplant team so she has had to spend a lot in co-pays and out of network expenses to potentially give the gift of life to Zing.
