Koen is one of those people you’re grateful to work beside. He’s a hard worker, a dependable teammate, and the kind of guy who shows up every day ready to give his best. Originally from Northern New Mexico, Koen came to El Paso to work with us on a high-voltage transmission crew, taking pride in doing tough, dangerous work to provide for his family.
Tragically, Koen was severely electrocuted while on the job and suffered serious burns and injuries. His road to recovery will be long and difficult, involving extensive medical care, time away from work, and a great deal of uncertainty. What makes this even harder is that Koen is a husband and a brand-new father to a newborn baby who needs him now more than ever. His wife and child are his whole world, and everything he does is for them.
Outside of work, Koen is a true Western soul. He loves being outdoors, golfing, and spending time with his buddies—always laughing, always bringing good energy wherever he goes. He’s the kind of friend who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. We’re starting this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden Koen and his family are facing during this incredibly difficult time. Any donation—big or small—will help with living expenses and supporting his family while he focuses on healing. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this and keeping Koen and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for standing with him the way he’s always stood for others.
