Support Kody Johnsen's Kidney Transplant Journey

My name is Heather Matthews and I have created this for my son, Kody Johnsen. Kody was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy in 2020, at the age of 19. IgA nephropathy is an autoimmune disease that affects the kidneys. At our first appointment with the nephrologist, he told us that he would look back at this in 40 years and laugh. But unfortunately, at his next appointment, the nephrologist was very surprised by the rapid decline of his kidney function. Five years later, Kody is in need of a kidney transplant.

I am asking for help with Kody's medical expenses, including the time he will be out of work for his recovery. I am also asking for help for his donor. We do not know who that is yet, but the process of matching is starting. There are truly no words for someone who is selfless enough to help my son, and I want to make sure that whoever matches has travel expenses and time off work for recovery covered. It feels like this is the very least I can do to show my appreciation for giving my son the gift of life.

Kody is a brilliant, loving, thoughtful kid and has been the best son a mother could ask for. Any help for Kody and his donor is so appreciated!
