Anyone who knows Kodi for five minutes knows that she's a fearless kid who is involved in many activities, from racing to karate, occasional rock climbing, swimming with sharks, and riding four-wheelers. Unfortunately, on Sunday, February 2nd, Kodi had a terrible accident on her four-wheeler, which landed her a one-way ambulance ride to the fabulous resort known as UNMH with a minimum 3-night stay.
This fearless kid did some pretty hefty damage and scared the bejeezus out of her parents, Christina and Billy. After CT scans, and working with a neurosurgeon, and plastic surgeons, she has to have a few surgeries. She ended up with a fractured skull, a laceration to the back of her head, a broken ankle, and a foot that requires skin grafts for healing. Luckily Kodi has had one successful surgery on her foot, with a few more to come. The skull fracture and gash will be monitored to ensure there isn't an infection brewing but requires future check-ups.
This long process has just started for Christina and Billy, and it's an expensive one. Even with insurance, the co-pays, time off work, and multiple surgeries have immediate financial impacts. This is a heartfelt request to help this family get through this financial burden so they can focus on Kodi's time away from school (required by doctors), twice weekly visits to the hospital, pediatric home care, and future surgeries; simply meaning the fiscal impacts are not over.
Any help is greatly appreciated in helping Christina and Billy with the piling medical costs. Accidents do happen with fearless kids and these two wonderful people rarely ask for help, so I'm asking for them.
