Hi everyone!

I'm Kodi Gonzaga, and I'm a writer, storyteller, tabletop roleplaying game designer, and all around creative person currently living in southern California. I'm also a genderfluid/nonbinary/genderqueer/whatever you wanna call it individual who uses they/them pronouns. I've been considering getting top surgery since 2019, and I finally began taking steps towards that goal in January of 2024. Back then, I had the funds to do it just fine.

Since then, I've been 1) thoroughly rejected by my biological family after coming out and telling them my top surgery plans and, as a result, been forced to cut them (and any potential financial support they might've given me) out of my life, 2) moved to a different apartment, which is MUCH more financially viable than the last one but still cleaned out my bank account, 3) switched insurance providers, and 4) had a wide array of medical ailments, which kinda just happens when you've got random chronic illness stuff like I do. It's been a year, y'all. As a result, I no longer have any savings, but I am determined to get this procedure. I've wanted it for so, so long. I'm going to get it, one way or another.

The election (*shudders*) kind of kicked me into high gear about getting this done. Because... I may not be able to within a few months of Trump getting put back in office. I'm scared and broke and body dysmorphic and full of chronic pain, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. But we do what we can, and we keep marching on, because what other option is there? Lay down and take it? Nah, if the bigots and conservatives want me dead so bad, they're gonna have to kill me themselves.

$8,000 will cover the entire cost of the surgery and give me a little extra to spend on recovery time, medicine, and supplies. The surgery itself will cost between $5,000 and $7,000, or at least that's the estimate. If I don't reach my full goal, that's okay, but if I can get at least half... Well, I won't have to go into TOO much debt, and that's always good, right?
